Asphalt can handle light traffic within hours of placement but continues hardening for weeks. We recommend limiting heavy traffic for 24-48 hours. Full curing takes several months but doesn't prevent use.
Typical commercial parking uses 3-4 inches of asphalt over 6-8 inches of aggregate base. Heavy truck traffic areas need thicker sections. We design pavement structure based on soil conditions and expected traffic.
New asphalt should be sealed after 6-12 months, then every 2-3 years thereafter. Regular sealing extends pavement life by protecting against water infiltration, oxidation, and petroleum damage.
